Bangladesh Cricket Board announced their women's ODI squad for the Sri Lanka series, featuring 20-year-old Juairiya Ferdous's first call-up and Sarmin Sultana's return after seven years.
Bangladesh Cricket Board announced their women's team for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka, with emerging 20-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Juairiya Ferdous earning her first international selection.
This series is also a chance for the Bangladesh Women's Cricket Team to build on their recent success. The selected squad mixes veteran players with promising young talent, forming a 15-player group.
### Series Schedule and Venue
The three-match ODI series starts April 20 in Rajshahi, with matches on April 22 and 25. All games will be at the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium.
This marks Sri Lanka's first bilateral women's ODI series in Bangladesh. Sri Lanka won the only previous bilateral ODI series between the sides, which was played in Sri Lanka in 2023. Their last meeting was at the World Cup in 2025, where Sri Lanka won a thriller by seven runs. Following the ODIs, three T20Is are scheduled for April 28, 30, and May 2 in Sylhet.

### Juairiya Ferdous: The Debutant in Focus
Juairiya Ferdous is the standout name in this squad. The uncapped wicketkeeper-batter hasn't played an ODI yet. She made her Bangladesh debut at the T20 World Cup Qualifier in Nepal this February, representing the Tigresses in T20Is during the ICC Women's T20 World Cup qualifiers.
Her ODI selection shows the selectors' confidence in her ability to adapt across formats. As a wicketkeeper-batter, she brings solid glovework and batting depth to a squad that's clearly building for the future while staying competitive now.

### Sarmin Sultana's Return After Seven Years
Along with Juairiya's debut, the squad features a notable comeback. Bangladesh brought back batter Sarmin Sultana to the ODI side for the first time in seven years. The last of 32-year-old Sarmin's 13 ODIs came against Pakistan in November 2019. She played in the Women's Asia Cup Rising Stars T20 tournament this February, where Bangladesh lost to India in the final.
Sarmin's return is one of three changes from the World Cup squad in India late last year. Offspinner Sultana Khatun is also included for this series. From that World Cup squad, Rubya Haider, Nishita Akter, and Sumaiya Akter didn't make the cut.

### Leadership and Squad Stability
The captain is Joty, and the vice-captain is Akhtar. The squad includes 15 players, with four back-up players: Akhtar, Shorifa Khatun, Farjana Easmin, and Tanjim Tanjehar.
The core players are all experienced and have supported Bangladesh Women's cricket through recent international competitions. Joty provides stability as captain, while Akhtar's vice-captain role reflects her importance as both a bowler and a senior team member.
Including Juairiya Ferdous in this experienced group shows BCB's intent to develop young players for more responsibilities. The board is preparing for a busy run of international fixtures ahead.
> "This series is a great opportunity to test our depth while staying focused on winning," a team source said.
