Saturday's IPL 2026 double-header saw Sanju Samson hit a match-winning century for CSK, while Jamie Overton and Anshul Kamboj dismantled Delhi Capitals. The Orange and Purple Cap races saw major shifts.
Saturday was a huge day in IPL 2026. A double-header gave us a ton of runs and completely changed the Orange Cap and Purple Cap races.
The evening game between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium was the big one. Individual performances really shook up the leaderboard. Delhi Capitals chose to field after winning the toss, but that decision backfired. They lost by 23 runs.
### Samson Finally Arrives
The night's biggest story was Sanju Samson. After scoring just 6, 7, and 9 in his first three games for CSK, the wicketkeeper-batter played a match-winning knock of 115 not out off 56 balls. He hit 15 fours and 4 sixes, with a strike rate of 205.36. It was his fourth IPL century and his first for CSK. And it came at the perfect time for his team.
Samson shared a 113-run partnership for the second wicket with Ayush Mhatre, who scored a composed 59 off 36 balls before being retired out in the 18th over. That allowed Shivam Dube to come in and accelerate. Dube made the most of it, finishing 20 not out off 10 balls. Ruturaj Gaikwad struggled, managing just 15 off 18 before being caught at deep midwicket off Axar Patel. CSK finished at 212 for 2, a total that was just beyond Delhi's reach.
Among the DC bowlers, T Natarajan was the most expensive, giving away 54 runs in his four overs at an economy of 13.50. Axar Patel was the only wicket-taker. Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav both went wicketless.

### Overton and Kamboj Dismantle Delhi
Chasing 213, Delhi Capitals started strong. Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul put on 61 runs in less than five overs. Nissanka scored 41 off 24 balls, and Rahul made 18 off 10. But then both openers were dismissed in quick succession. Rahul fell to Syed Khaleel Ahmed in the fifth over, and Nissanka was out to Anshul Kamboj in the next. That shifted the momentum completely.
From 61 for 2, wickets kept falling. Axar Patel went for just 1, Sameer Rizvi managed only 6, and David Miller was bowled by Jamie Overton for 17. At that point, DC were 76 for 4, and the required run rate was climbing fast.
Tristan Stubbs provided the only real resistance, scoring 60 off 38 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. His innings gave Delhi a faint hope, but Overton returned to remove him in the 19th over, caught by Noor Ahmad. After that, the tail folded quickly. The last three wickets fell for just six runs. Delhi were bowled out for 189, falling 23 runs short.
Overton was outstanding, taking 4 for 18 from his four overs at an economy of 4.50. That's impressive in a match where Delhi scored at 9.45 runs per over overall. Kamboj backed him up with 3 for 36, taking the wickets of Nissanka, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ngidi to close out the innings. Noor Ahmad and Gurjapneet Singh chipped in with a wicket each.

### Sooryavanshi Holds Firm at the Top
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continues to lead the Orange Cap race with 200 runs in four matches at a strike rate of 266.66. The 15-year-old is the standout batter of the season so far and shows no signs of giving up the lead. Heinrich Klaasen moved to second on the leaderboard with 184 runs after scoring 39 against Punjab Kings in the afternoon game. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel, both from Rajasthan Royals, are third and fourth. That shows the Royals' dominance as the only unbeaten team in the tournament. Samson's 115 lifted him to ninth on the run-scorers list with 137 runs in four matches.
