Chennai Super Kings have lost left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed for the remainder of IPL 2026. He suffered a Grade 2 quadriceps tear and a stretch injury to the right rectus femoris tendon. Doctors also found a complete tear of the direct head of the muscle. That's a lot of damage in one leg. Because of this serious condition, the pacer needs long-term rehabilitation. It will likely take about three months before he is match-ready again. This injury ends his participation in the IPL 2026 tournament for good.  ### How the Injury Happened The 28-year-old fast bowler got hurt during the 17th over of the second innings against KKR. He was about to bowl the final ball of his fourth over when he felt a sudden discomfort in his right thigh. He tried to complete the spell, but the team pulled him out to prevent further damage. He abruptly stopped his run-up and clutched his right leg in visible pain. Medical staff rushed onto the field before he hobbled off to the dugout. He conceded a boundary on the final ball. ### Khaleel Ahmed's Stats and Potential Replacements Before his injury, Khaleel played in all five matches for CSK. In his final game against KKR, he bowled out Sunil Narine. He gave up 24 runs from his 3.5 overs. Overall, he maintained an economy rate of 8.67 runs per over across five games.
