### Somerset's Clean Sweep at the PCA Awards
Craig Overton and Sophie Luff, both from Somerset, took home the top honors at the Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA) Awards on Wednesday night in West London. The annual dinner celebrated the best of the domestic season, and it was Somerset's night to shine.
Overton won the Men's Player of the Year award after a standout season. He scored 734 runs, including three centuries, and took 53 wickets in the County Championship. Even though Warwickshire pipped Somerset to the title, Overton's individual brilliance didn't go unnoticed. He also played a key role in Somerset's run to Blast Finals Day, smashing an unbeaten 79 off just 30 balls in the quarter-final against Yorkshire at Headingley. Later, he helped Trent Rockets reach the Hundred final. "It's a phenomenal feeling," Overton said. He hasn't played international cricket since 2022, but this award surely puts him back in the conversation.
Luff, Somerset's captain, claimed the Women's Player of the Year award. She moved up to open the batting this year and finished as the club's top run-scorer in both the T20 Blast and the Metro Bank One-Day Cup. She also played every game for Trent Rockets as they won the women's Hundred for the first time. Notably, Luff is the first uncapped player to win this award since Eve Jones in 2021. She credited her new role at the top of the order for unlocking her potential.
### Young Guns Shine Bright
Sonny Baker, another Somerset academy product, won the Men's Young Player of the Year. He made his Test debut for England at The Oval and played in the recent T20I series against Sri Lanka. In the Blast, he took 21 wickets for Hampshire, including five-wicket hauls in both the quarter-final and the final. He then won the Hundred with Manchester Super Giants. "I've dreamed of a Test debut since I was 11," Baker said.
Tilly Corteen-Coleman, a 19-year-old left-arm spinner from Surrey, took the Women's Young Player of the Year. She made her England debuts in ODI and T20I cricket this summer and finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the Hundred. She's eyeing a Test cap at Headingley in next summer's Ashes and hopes to join the red-ball camp ahead of 2027.
### Special Recognition for Legends
Heather Knight, who retired from international cricket this summer, received the PCA Outstanding Contribution award. She previously served as the association's vice-chair. Her former England teammate Tammy Beaumont was honored with the ECB Special Merit award.
