Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra are out of New Zealand's five-match ODI series against India. Both need more time to heal from injuries. The Black Caps have called in replacements: Tim Seifert, Henry Nicholls, and Dean Foxcroft. ### Injury Updates on Chapman and Ravindra An MRI showed Chapman's left hamstring needs another two weeks of rehab. He tore it at the European T20 Premier League in September. Ravindra's right shoulder isn't ready for full fielding yet. He hurt it during a promotional shoot in September. New Zealand is also managing his workload with a Test series later this month. Head coach Rob Walter said the team is disappointed. "Chapman is working hard to get back," Walter said after speaking with him last week. On Ravindra, Walter added, "We don't want to take any unnecessary risks with the Test series approaching." ### New Zealand Squad Changes for India ODIs Seifert, originally named only for the last two ODIs, is now in the squad for the entire series. Nicholls, who turns 35 this month, joins for the first three matches. Foxcroft, currently playing red-ball cricket for New Zealand A against India A, will link up for the final two games. Nicholls returns after scoring 119 while opening for Canterbury in the Ford Trophy on Saturday. He has played 92 ODIs and was part of the squad that toured the West Indies in July. Matthew Fisher was initially picked for the last two games only, but now he's in for the full series as an extra bowling option. Matt Henry, who was ruled out midway through the T20I series, joined the ODI squad on Monday. The team management will assess his fitness. ### New Zealand's Updated ODI Squad **First three ODIs:** Mitchell Santner (captain), Michael Bracewell, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Matthew Fisher, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham (wicketkeeper), Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Glenn Phillips, Tim Seifert, Nathan Smith, Will Young, Blair Tickner. **Last two ODIs:** Santner (captain), Finn Allen, Bracewell, Kristian Clarke, Duffy, Fisher, Dean Foxcroft, Lockie Ferguson, Mitchell Hay (wicketkeeper), Nick Kelly, Seifert (wicketkeeper), Tickner, Young. > "It's a tough blow, but it gives others a chance to step up," Walter said.
