Surrey all-rounder Ralphie Albert will captain England Under-19s on their tour of Pakistan in December. Nottinghamshire’s Farhan Ahmed will be his vice-captain in an 18-player squad. The tour includes three Youth ODIs and one Youth Test, all in Rawalpindi, and it begins with a 12-day training camp in Sri Lanka from November 19 to 30.
### England Under-19 Squad for Pakistan Tour
The England and Wales Cricket Board named an 18-member group for the trip. Every match will be played in Rawalpindi.
Worcestershire left-arm seamer Jeet Varaich is the only uncapped player in the group. He has received his first Young Lions call-up. Marley Simpson and Luke Symington will travel only for the training camp in Sri Lanka. Charlie Taylor and Manny Lumsden will join the squad in Rawalpindi, and both will follow individual programmes designed for developing fast bowlers.
The full squad is: Ralphie Albert (captain), Farhan Ahmed, Subhaan Ali, Robbie Bowman, Tom Bradley, Thomas Edwards, Luke Hands, Theo Lamey, Manny Lumsden, Bertie Michael, Isaac Mohammad, Joe Moores, Jack Nelson, Leo Selvey-Clinton, Marley Simpson, Luke Symington, Charlie Taylor and Jeet Varaich.
### England U19 vs Pakistan U19 Schedule and Training Camp
The squad will begin its preparation with a 12-day training camp in Colombo, Sri Lanka, which runs from November 19 to November 30. The team will then travel to Pakistan for the limited-overs series, which starts in the first week of December.
The schedule is as follows:
- November 19-30: Training camp, Colombo, Sri Lanka
- December 5: First Youth ODI, Rawalpindi
- December 7: Second Youth ODI, Rawalpindi
- December 9: Third Youth ODI, Rawalpindi
- December 13-16: Youth Test, Rawalpindi
The tour follows the series between the two sides in England during the summer. Albert played in the Under-19 Test against Pakistan at Arundel on September 2.
### Neil Killeen Takes Charge as Interim Head Coach
Former Durham seamer Neil Killeen will oversee the squad on an interim basis. He has taken over as head coach of the Young Lions for their winter programme after Mike Yardy moved to the role of Elite National Batting Lead. The programme also includes a tour of Australia early next year.
Joe Denly, Steve Mullaney and Kyle Hogg will support Killeen as part of the coaching team.
Killeen said he is looking forward to leading the group of young players and coaches through the winter schedule. He described the tour as a chance for the players to experience new countries and conditions, and said the coaching staff will help develop their game in a high-quality environment as they work towards international cricket.
Killeen also said Sri Lanka suits the training camp and that the squad will use it to prepare for what he expects to be a tough contest in Pakistan following the summer series.
The camp in Colombo will give the squad time to adjust to subcontinental conditions before the Youth ODIs begin. Rawalpindi will host all four matches, so the players will stay in one city for the full duration of the series in Pakistan.
> "This tour is a fantastic opportunity for these young players to grow both on and off the field," Killeen remarked. "We're looking forward to the challenge."
